Body contouring procedures commonly occur following massive weight loss after a patient has lost a significant amount of weight. The weight loss creates a condition where there is a large degree of excess skin and tissue that often hang in folds. To achieve a contoured appearance following the loss of a large degree of fat, a body-lift procedure such as abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, arm or thigh lift is often necessary. In addition, lift procedures of sagging breasts and eyelids are also often needed.
Prior to undergoing surgery for body contouring, it is necessary to have a medical examination with evaluation of any existing medical conditions the patient may have. Dr. Jackson has extensive experience in the surgical evaluation and treatment of weight loss patients who have particular needs.
Dr. Jackson completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. This provided exceptional training and experience in the full gamut of facial, breast, and body cosmetic procedures that pique his interest. Included in his background is experience in breast augmentations and reductions, facelifts, necklifts, rhinoplasty, eyelid contouring, brow lifts, abdominoplasties or tummy tucks, liposuction and other body contouring procedures such as arm lifts and thigh lifts.
Prior to plastic and reconstructive surgery training, Dr. Jackson trained for five years in general surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
During that time, he gained experience in such surgical disciplines as trauma and critical care, breast, gastrointestinal tract, endocrine, pediatric and vascular surgeries. Additionally, Dr. Jackson had a particular interest and a wealth of experience in laparascopic and bariatric or weight-loss surgery. Dr. Jackson developed a keen interest in helping morbidly obese patients achieve overall better health through weight loss surgery. In addition, Dr. Jackson has a strong desire to help patients sculpt their bodies after adjustable gastric banding.
