I usually keep meat for more than 3 days sometimes and it rarely gets brown. I usually judge foods by their color or whether I see mold to determine if I should throw them out. I also do the sniff test and sniff it to make sure the food or liquid hasn't fermented or changed.

Its depend upon food ,which type of food it is.
Its dry or wait.On any packed food there is available of expiry date before you bay please check it.
